Harewood speed Hillclimb - Next Event Preview

May 10th and 11th

Harewood Hill

Two great motorsport events take place this weekend at Harewood Hillclimb.

On Saturday the Harewood Open will have 150 competitors, including around 20 Ferraris and a number of Triumph cars.  Cars will range from the Peugeot 106 of Otley drivers David Medley and Paul Howard to Sandra Tomlin’s 4 litre Pilbeam race car.   There is a particularly strong entry in the up to 2 litre saloon car class, with over 25 competitors here alone.

On Sunday, Harewood Hillclimb plays host to two rounds of the Nicholson McLaren British Hillclimb Championship, when the UK’s top drivers will descend on the venue. Around a third of the 120 strong entry will be British Championship contenders.  Hill record holder and current championship leader Scott Moran, will be out in the 3.5 litre Gould race car along with last year’s champion Martin Groves in another Gould.  Fastest Time of the Day at the Harewood April meeting was set by Trevor Willis in the Yorkshire built OMS (photo attached by Hedward.com) and he now lies second in the British Championship.  If the weather is dry, then we can expect to see very fast times from these superfast drivers.

Both events form part of the Harrogate Audi Harewood Hillclimb Championship.

Harewood Hillclimb can be found on the A659 between Harewood village and Collingham.  Admission is £10, with under 14s free.

The latest list of the entrants for each event is available here
